My first real experience with wine (besides monthly communions) was
when I lived in Germany for 7 years. Beer, Riesling and Gruner Veltliner were the beverages of choice.  Learning this and walking the vineyards near Idar-Oberstein made me want to add wine into my life.  This young man from the South Bronx was about to venture into something totally new.
